Shaik Tanveer Hossain

Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Hossain is a sustainable agriculture advisor for Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) and a visiting scientist at the Laboratory of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University, Japan.  Earlier on, he was a senior scientist at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI).

He is a pioneer of integrated rice-duck farming technology and organic vegetable production in sack technology in Bangladesh.

In 2011, Dr. Tanveer Hossain received the 'Organic Farming Innovation Award' (OFIA) from the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and the Rural Development Administration (RDA), South Korea.

He was also awarded the 'Weed Science Award' from the Weed Science Society of Bangladesh.

He is an advisory group member of the Sustainable Organic Agriculture Action Network (SOAAN), which is a new best practice program of IFOAM. Furthermore Tanveer is a Board Member of IFOAM-Asia for the period 2013 to 2017. He is also serving as a coordinator of the newly established Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) Organic Council Bangladesh.

Dr. Tanveer Hossain holds a Ph.D. in agriculture (organic rice) from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University, Japan.
